Posers' Coffee House, All Bullshit Accepted, Part VI
Offta breakfast.... then to the hospital.... mebbe they have a padded room I could borrow for some time!
Dropping in kinda late. Weather guessers said we cudda got some ice in the early hours, but the road's dry 'cept for the salt puddles. Heading towards melting temps today, seeing some dead grass now.
Gotta do an airport taxi run tonite, if the gf gets on the flight; she's flying standby, and only one direct flight today. Misses that, she'll try going through Atlanta tomorrow morning, lotta flights tween here and Atlanta. Standby (non-rev to airline folks) can really suck when you're in that scheduled part of life, but retired, with a retired person to pick you up whenever you get there, ain't quite so bad. Folks have asked me why I don't fly a lot - a night in an airport hotel can cost as much as buying a ticket on the flight wudda been in the first place. Never have just done a commercial flight for the fun of it. Ain't a way to get a nice meal anymore, either - known airline guys that'd take their wife on a short flight out & back for a free dinner; not sumptin I ever wanted to do. But I do miss the days when you could get a steak or lobster dinner on the original Frontier or Delta - those were the best airlines in my experience, too bad Frontier (original, not the cheap one that came later) didn't make it.

Commercial plugs always seem to be right where I wanna have sumptin that will block it. When I re-wired my house, added a bunch of receptacles in the rooms where I had drywall off (replaced the crap insulation on the main and lower level, hadda pull all the wallboard). Got 12 ga copper wire to the receptacles now, too. Some of em had 14 ga stranded aluminum wire with soft plastic insulation, not thhn like yer supposed to use in conduit; sure ain't code here. Vacuum cleaner would dim mosta the lights in the house... Now it don't bother a lamp plugged into the same receptacle. Place wus an electrical firetrap, but I got it cheap, in a cul de sac I wanted that for the kid, 5 then, and I knew how to fix it. But a house is a work in progress, windows, roof, water heaters, plumbing, paint, garage doors - lot of stuff that doesn't last as long as you do.
