When I went to look at my Tour Glide for the first time, guy's wife came out in the grudge - she was our mail person! She'd occasionally stop and say hi and look at the bikes if I wus out in the grudge with the door open. She had her own big twin and their daughter hadda 1200 sporty. Little bit I talked to the daughter, sounded like she wus too intimidated by the Sporty to enjoy it, hadn't ridden it much. I don't unnerstand why so many folks think a sporty is a good beginner bike. One ride on one, and my daughter agreed it wusn't.

I agree. To ride a newer Sporty, (1990 & up), it is an acquired skill. Only mastered by a mire few.

That's why I like my 1200, no autopilot on that thing, let your guard down and it'll bite you. Bike with an attitude. Did tame it a bit putting on the Avons, wus kinda nasty with the Dumlops. Gotta admit, an hour into Wisconsin, and I wish it wus as comfy as the Glide. Glide's docile, easier handling than the sporty, not much challenge there (although that S&S puts some stretch on the arms). One a these days I'll get the Russian rig out on a highway and hope it don't scare me too bad...

I don't know.... started out on a sporty. To me, it was a good beginner's bike, but I grew up on dirt bikes and hot rods. I haven't been impressed with the performance(speed) of any stock Harley I've ridden. Hopefully that springer wakes up a bit with the cam change this winter. Overall I don't care anymore, it's more a cruiser, but no such thing as too much HP

Hey all.
Got some bad news from my son and his girlfriend. They were on a ski trip, spending the night in a room and some lowlife used a crowbar to tear apart the ski rack on top of the car.
2400 dollars worth of gear gone.
