Up here it doesn't matter if you are married or not. If you have lived together for a year (might be 6 months) and things go south, treated the same as a divorce.

just looked it up, no common law marriage in the state of delaware. yippie!

 

Morning posers, common law was outlawed here about 20 years ago. It was 8 years of living together and then you were considered married. I'm on 10 almost 11 years now, minus a few excursions but she always drug me back kicking and screaming.

 

Reminds me of the story about a family that became stranded on an isolated island in the ocean. One day hubby has had enough and sets off in a row boat. Mom says, what about the kids? He says, you take care of 'em. She says, what about food? He tells her to plant and keeps rowing. She lifts her skirt, points at her crotch and says, what about this? Hubby turns around, rows toward shore and says, Some day I'm gonna leave you, woman.
