It's amazing the number of people who don't get that signal when give it to them.

Riding in the Black Hills around Sturgis a week and a half ago I was tapping my helmet to warn oncoming riders of a speed trap around a bend, most other bikers hadn't a clue what I was doing. When I learned to ride way back when, it was common knowledge and considered good biker etiquette to do so, but then again kick starters were the only REAL way to start a bike and the new electric starters were for pussies. So I guess as time marches on a lot of things get left behind.

Yeah, "modern" riders seem to think the slow down signal is a low five!

I wish it amazed me...but lately I've become incredibly blasé...jaded, actually, about the sheer numbers of the oblivious, the moronic and the apparently lobotomized with whom I have to share a road.

They got us severely outnumbered, Firewoman. It may be a sign of the approaching Apocalypse, ya think?

It's their loss not to learn the basic hand signals of the motorcycle world.

It' just one of those things, I have people do it to me, and in turn I do it to others.

Unless we teach the new riders things that aren't in the rider manual, they won't know.

Seriously? Hard to imagine all these battle hardened, hog ridin' *****,being concerned about hand jive on the road. Just flip all the yuppie weenies off. Low wave.......give 'em the bird. High wave..........give 'em the bird. Tap helmet...........give 'em the bird. Pretty soon, all that stupid assed waving and helmet rubbing will go away.
