Are you a rider or a biker?

I always thought it queer that they call it the Harley Owner's Group just so they could use the HOG acronym.
Nothing about riding, just owning.
Buy our new motorcycle and get a free one year membership to the owner's group - we don't care if you actually ride it or not.
Nobody I know has ever renewed that after the free year.

I'm a rider not a biker. I enjoy riding.
Bikers are mainly concerned with how they and their rides look. They spend $ thousands on gear and gadgets to make themselves and ride unique. But somehow they all look and act the same.

I've never been a biker but I used to be a rider, that is until winter started, now I'm just a sitter. But, hopefully in another couple of months, I'll be a rider again.

A couple pages ago I threw in my 2 cents...here's 2 more...

If what a man appears to be is more important than who they really are, individuality is already lost.

I always thought a rider was someone on a horse with 8 seconds to spare & a biker rode something with peddles.
When I'm on a motorcycle I'm a motorcyclist. I must be my license says endorsements 3- Two-wheel motorcycle only.

By self-definition
I use the term "ENTHUSIAST" ....People hear you have a bike or see you on a bike and ask the question...Are you a Biker...
So I tell them "I'm a motorcycle enthusiast"....I've love motorcycles, everything involved with them as long as I can remember...
I can appreciate a dirt bike and chopper and everything in between for what it is.....
A Biker (to me anyways) infers a "life style"..
As far as life style? I'm just an average all American family man and working stiff....
No time, exposure or desire to enter any other life style then I find myself in.
I don't remember much of a biker presence growing up and what little I do remember was cast in a negative light (right, wrong or indifferent)...
It's just the way it was, It didn't interest me and I didn't question it....
I now see the biker "life style" as just that...a choice of life style....
No different then any other life style...If that's what you want then good luck to you....
No different then I'd say good luck to the guy who wants to live in a community of academics, artist, or law enforcement, etc.. ...
As long as your happy and it doesn't hurt anyone, have at it.....good luck to you...

That's the same as saying a guy who likes hookers dressed like catholic school girls is a pedophile , one doesn't automatically make you the other.
