Are you a rider or a biker?

I rode bikes when I was younger but quit for a long time. After I could finally afford my Harley, I took a rider course at age 49. Learned alot. Clutch control and braking being major pounts. I am a better driver for it both on my bike and in a cage. I would agree my reaction is slower and my eyes aint what they used to be. But I drive alot different then I did when I was 22 trying to offset the fact I am getting older. On the other hand I still think like I'm 18.

Yep and if you eat burnt toast you'll get cancer, eating bacon will kill you and exercise is the only way to live a long life.
Studies, surveys, polls are all BS. Live your life, be careful on the road and enjoy life. Just remember that when they put you in the ground your body should be beat to hell from all the fun you had in life.

I ain't no scientist, but I am 65. What's with this study? The groups aren't equal in size so how can anyone draw a conclusion from a ratio??? 1st group was stated as riders in their 20's and 30's....that's a ten year span. 2nd group, 40 through 59...that's nineteen year span. The 3rd group is 60 and over,,,,hell I've got friends riding who are in their 80's. How many years you want to figure on that one?
What's the point of this dip **** study??? Probably paid for with tax payer's money is my guess. Screw em. I'm firing up and ridin' into the sunset as long as I feel no threat to myself or others. Have a nice day.

Friend, I commend you for trying to give some info to the readership. But there is some info in this info that is buried in the jibber.
older riders went from 1 in 10 to 1 in 4 over the period. Well, of course the rate of accidents will go up more than than the other age groups. Having said that though, yes, a young rider will mend faster than the older age group.
Must be new older riders skewing the stats somewhat.
As Richard Pryor once said " you don't get to be an old *** by being stupid"
Most of the "older riders" are using Viagra or similar.
I think they are distracted drivers: They are thinking of sex all the time.
Not explored in the study.

Yah, I'm older and probably will suffer more injuries than a young'un in identical falls...then again, maybe not because I know how to fall. do the majority of young'uns? Also, I agree that more older guys are just starting to ride, thereby skewing the study. I'll continue to ride until I can't ride any more.....so keep the hell out of my way....here I come.
