When they are on it, they are a biker. I started riding my first Harley in 1954 when I was 14 years old. I wore engineer boots and a zipper black leather jacket, but it was riding the bike that made me a biker. I was the only biker in the small town that I lived in, but I don't think people treated me any different because I was a biker. OK, maybe the girls did. LOL
Very well said. Man, I would love to sit around a campfire one night and listen to some of your stories of the road. Hell, I'll even buy the first couple of rounds.

"I want to take a moment to differentiate between a motorcyclist and a biker. A motorcyclist is someone that owns a motorcycle and rides occasionally for whatever reason. However a “biker” well that’s a different story altogether"

Didn't Jax say that in the 3rd episode of Sons of Anarchy ?

I on the other hand, think its a crock-o-**** to say 'anyone who rides a motorcycle is a biker' There is more to it than that, at least there use to be.
The word just doesn't hold much meaning anymore, obviously.

Biker in my vocabulary refers to a "look" or lifestyle. Motorcyclist refers to someone who rides a motorcycle. There are some "bikers" who do not own motorcycles or ride and lots of motorcyclists who are not bikers.

On my side of Indiana we refer to bikers as posers. Where I live, bikers are the people that do nothing but ride from bar to bar. They don't really go anywhere but it is important to get all dressed up and show off their shiny new toy, oh and don't forget to get your weekend warrior friends to try to look like a bad *** at Starbucks lol. We've always use the term motorcyclist as the people that actually ride all over hell and back, just my 2 cents. Oh well, enough time wasted, I got places to ride lol
