Default Throw over/permanent bags?

Looking for bags for my 2012 Wide Glide and trying to decide whether to go with the throw over or a permanet mount style bag.

I have the wife and her Spyder for lots of storage if we take a longer trip, but am looking for something to store maybe chaps, rain gear, and few odds and ends in.

Pros or cons for either style??
TIA

I just put a set of Fox Creek throwover bags on my Superglide. I love the "old school" looks plus, you don't have the looks of the bike overrun with large bags. So, pros, cool looking and a little easier on the wallet. Cons, not nearly as much storage space but on this bike, I rarely get more than 75 miles from town. I got the RKC with big *** bags and a large sissy bar travel bag for that.

I've had both and I would say get permanent ones. If you get throw overs your gonna need to take some measure to protect your fender. There is nothing wrong with throw over bags, but once you get used to having a little storage, you won't take them off. First it's the rainsuit, then warmer gloves just in case, then clear riding glasses, then a Gazetteer state road atlas with all the back roads, then a little cooler... I like the look of my Heritage all stripped down, solo seat, passenger footboards removed, but I rarely go to the effort as I miss my stuff in the bags.

Ghost mount em. That way they are there when you need em. And gone when you don't.

Why are you not considering quick detachable saddle bags.
I chose Easy Brackets, but there are a lot of choices.

I have not bought saddle bags for anything, nor really considered them till now, so I'm starting from scratch here.

I'll consider just about anything, but am not familiar with Easy Brackets or the Ghost mount.

Off to the web again.

Appears the Ghost mount may not need a tail light relocation kit, always nice.
And it disappears when off.
Pretty much like the Easy Off.

So now we have a mount and get to go find bags.

I expect with any large saddle bag, you may need to move the signal lights aft no matter what the system. The length of the bag's top, of course, determines the space needed. If it is only "chaps, rain gear, and few odds and ends", small, medium, or slanted bags will probably fit without the relocating the lights.

Good luck. You've got some thinking & measuring to do.

good thing it's slow at work, seems the list of bags goes on forever.

Did kinda like the Saddlemans Tattoo slanted version in medium or large, so far.
