fingerless gloves are "for the chronic nail biter and nose pickers"..... well, that's what they said in a famous biker magazine about 30 years ago.

I always use fingerless gloves when the weather permits. Wells-Lamont makes work gloves (available at my local Wal-Mart) that are PERFECT for this, and Size L (my size) are even in the MoCo orange/black. Advantages include a better grip on the controls and sun protection for the back of the hands (you will appreciate this when you hit your 60's), but with full sensation of the fingertips for adjusting your helmet, glasses, chin-strap, searching for change, nose-picking, texting, etc, etc.

I like fingerless for the increased dexterity, better feel on the controls, covers the back of the hand from the sun, blah, blah, blah. Also, if I'm picking my nose, I like being able to go in there with either an index finger or a pinkey.

I find the gloves reduce the vibration a bit and fingerless helps with switches, brake and clutch operation.

Fingerless gloves come in handy so that I can "feel" the helmet straps and take off my helmet easier before I go into a store etc.

Texting, iPhone use, GPS use, iPod etc all need bare fingers to work properly.
