Got a new 3/8 in ratchet the other day. Notice where Craftsman tools are now made!

I noticed that a year or two ago. Craftsman is no longer the premier tool brand it was. Have to get Snap-On if you want Made in USA, and be careful there because they have some cheaper tools that are also Made in China.

I just bought a set of Craftsman miniature wrenches. They were made in the USA.

When I went over to Sears I had the intention of throwing them back on the shelf and looking elsewhere once I saw "made in china" on them. I was very surprised.

Fwiw Snap-on's channel locks suck now and ive never broken so many 1/4 Snap-on sockets. I fear they are cutting corners now. Sign of the times I guess.

Pays to read the labels. Same thing with bearings. If I am buying tools or replacement bearings. I buy American. I would probably trust German made tools or bearings. I have a scar from a chinese bolt breaking under load. I no longer trust anything made in china.

Snap on is made in china too now.Craftsman tools are horrible .The last set I bought that was made in the usa the coating started to peel off the ratchets and wrenches leaving sharp edges to cut my hands on.

They have a lifetime warranty, take 'em back for replacement. Could be a bad batch from the chromer.

They have a lifetime warranty but take them back and they will give you a used rebuilt piece of junk. The ratchet they replaced the other day had been replaced 2 times before by rebuilt ratchets. The only way I got a new one is because they didn't have a rebuilt in their box. Then It was made in China. I have a Stanely ratchet made in China that is better quality than the Craftsman I got. It's just sad to see all of our manufacturing go away and the quality go with it.
