Spent over 80 bucks on mc oil last week. Seems like not long ago it was 79 cents a quart, and was 39 cents back in the Honda 305 days. Good thing gas prices didn't keep up with oil. My old 440 ci Dodge was cheaper to change oil twice a year and break the speed limit for 10,000 miles than my Harleys. Maybe less than my 250cc scooter. The Harleys are the first bikes I ever got "motorcycle" oil for instead of using the same stuff I put in the cages. Kinda feel like I fell for the snake oil pitch.

Guess the 1200 is going back on the jack - rear brake quit. Got firm pedal, just no slow, and doesn't make any noise. Pad's kinda thin, but oughta still do sumptin. Oh well, new pads supposed to get here Thursday, figure it out then. Don't know what'd be worse, collapsed brake line, or stuck piston. I'm tryin not to think master cylinder. Not that it's a whole worse than the others, but then I'd have to take those new pipes off again, front one at least.

I got Mobil 1 this time, have used Amsoil before, but over 2 bucks a quart cheaper for Mobil. Still oughta be good oil. With the short riding season here, and splitting riding between the sporty and bagger, I could go all year on cheaper dino probably. Could get 2.5 quarts of Quaker State or Penzoil dino for the price of synth, and I bet I'd never notice the difference. Over the long haul, synth definitely keeps the motor cleaner at least. And starts better in cold temps. The oil in the bagger is like molasses (guy before used Harley oil), would barely turn over near freezing. Supposed to only have a few hundred miles on it, but gonna change all three holes anyway, just so I know for sure what's in there. And gonna lose the primary oil anyway when I pull the cover. Donkey *****, just remembered I fergot to get fork oil. What else... DOT 5, plenty of it, might as well flush the brakes when I'm werking on them. 5 pad sets, that weren't cheap, putting Lyndalls both ends on the sporty, front on the bagger, EBC on the rear - no Lyndalls to fit the rear, that seems odd.
