Actually, that is almost exactly what what I do when my pool shooting sucks. Draw outside, come back inside, and hit the cue ball slightly off my aim point.

 

Relax yer grip...(that one works for anything)

 

Look out, he's crabby today, or so he said.

 

Then I drop the darn stick, club, ax, chainsaw, etc!

 

Must be tax time for him?

only 2 things cause a slice,
1) open face at impact = weak/slow release. ( turning of the wrists)

2) Crossing the intended path of the intended direction of the ball. Swing plane has very little to do with it, One look at jim furyk's swing will tell ya that.
