Posers' Coffee House, All Bullshit Accepted, Part IV
Checkin' in.....crap weather on the way..snow, ice, sleet, freezing rain, rain. Nuttin' here yet, but all schools on early dismissal....if I didn't have w*rk to do, I'd go back to bed and leave a wake up call for April!
Morning Kristy! Doc that's good to hear! Mine is the first year for the throttle by wire but so far so good. Why change the comp? Any problems to look for? Mine does clunk into first when I first start in the morning but doesn't if I wait a bit and let the idle drop down after a few seconds. My bike has a Sert (Race tuner) so no xieds but I would use them in a heartbeat. Don't know if I'm running close loop in mid range still or if they programmed in a richer mid range at cruise. I will have it re-dynoed at cam change.
You might not notice it as much because of the IDS on the 08 and later bikes, but it is there.
It is absolutely the best thing I did to the bike. I would highly recommend it.
If ya do a search, you will find volumns written about the subject.
Right now, my bike is sitting with 94,500 miles on it....an if nothing breaks(Knock on wood!!).....I ain't touching a thing!!!!!!
LOL me too. Kristy you still here? Are your hands too sore to type, not that any of us old guys know anything about that!
The original compensators on the 96's (07-09) were really weak....Springs weren't strong enuff and just engaging the starter could overdrive them.....hence the heavy bang you get on startup when the starter is energised. Then on pulling out especially under load, you would get a ratcheting sound/feeling as the compensator maxed out....HD knew this and eventually came out with the SE Compensator......of course they did nothing to fix those that were already out there!!!

Rain, Yes! Wash that friggin salt down the river. I can ride in rain if I hafto (but not usually by choice). And then I can go play in deep puddles with the van to flush out salt car washes & garden hoses don't get to (not that deep, couple or 4 inches at 30-40mph gives it a good bath).
