Default Sky King

What with all the free time that I have on my hands, I went on a Youtube search to find the name of an OLD TV show I reckon I used to watch back in the 50's. My most favorite I used to watch was Sky King. I would so look forward to Sky Kings adventures every week. Same plot every episode. The bad guys would get into the plane and force him to fly them to safety. He'd eventually pull back the throttle, pretend he was low on fuel, grab the gun from the bad guys and land safely. I guess it had a profound effect on my life. I eventually learned to fly AND I MARRIED A GIRL NAMED PENNY!

ANYHOW - The show I was searching for was Captain Midnight. I had a secret decoder ring AND I distinctly remember getting a Captain Midnight helmet as a present. Another one I ran across was Whirlybirds. GOOD TIMES!

Used to watch Sky King, too. Gave me a love of airplanes, that I was never able to follow up on. In grad school, I went to going the flying club they had, only to find out their plane had just been wrecked and they were underinsured. Then developed a bit of veritgo, and flying does not help.

As I was reading your post I kept thinking "I gotta mention Whirlybirds". Got to the end and you had beaten me to it. Man, Sky King and Whirlybirds were two of my favorites also. Rat Patrol was also one of my favorites.

It's been a long time but, wasn't his dog's name Rex?

And Rat Patrol kicked some serious butt!

Roy Rogers was on after Sky King. Seemed like a real nice guy. Great decade to grow up.

I remember watching Sky King. That was a long time ago. About my only recollection of the content was an episode where he was seeding the clouds during a major drought.

I wonder how old I was then. Do you know what years it ran for?
