Not really the cheapest, not a whole lot of selection (only four different chaps), but pretty much guaranteed to fit, definitely heavy enough to protect you, and made in the USA: www.hillsideusa.com

Check out ebikerleather.com
Put the words - naked leather chaps - in the search box
Naked leather is the best. Beats split and topgrain any day

Fox Creek has an excellent return policy. Just give them a call; they do a great job in helping you determine what you need to order.
All the others mentioned are good sources as well. Good luck shopping!

I have heard of a leather shop in Helen, GA.
Not sure how far that is from you.

I am on the border of NC/VA. Ga is a bit too far for me to travel for chaps!
Thanks for the info though.

I bought a pair from Jafrum a number of years ago. Good thick leather, inexpensive, and work just fine.

How do the sizes run?
I bought a pair that is XL and they fit very tight at the highest point of my thigh. I wear a 36-29 pants and thought the XL would have given me extra room but they were tight.
I bought mine at JR's Discount here in NC and had to return them.

Jafrum's size chart was good for me. Before I ordered mine I read the reviews and it seemed that other folks thought the chart was pretty good, too. You could always go one bigger.
On the same note as chaps, I bought a pair of flannel-lined jeans at Cabela's, and I have found them to be warm enough in the 50+* range.

I am 61 and have been riding for many years but have never bothered to get a pair of chaps, but feel it is finally time to help extend my riding season a little. I would love to have the Harley brand, but it is a bit steep for me. I know the saying that you get what you pay for, but I also know that is not always the case. Any help would be greatly appreciated here.

Just found a new site with killer prices Jafrum.com

I ordered a set of lined buffalo leather for like 58 bucks with shipping

I use my Fox Creek chaps alot. They have the removable liner and the fit is awesome. I picked mine up on their clearance page for a considerable discount. These will last a very long time, I am sure of it.
