Default Dammit.....

Wife and I came upon a cycle wreck last night on the way home from supper. Couldn't really tell what it was. Probably a fatality, as average citizens had the rider secured, giving him CPR...
It didn't help that not only was the bike black like my Heritage, but it was on my regular route to work. My wife freaked out, cying and all..."I wish you'd sell that damn Harley!"

I really was hurting for the guy; somebody was waiting for him to come home. Got a lot of things going on in my head at the moment...
Just damn.....

It happens everyday. Don't let it influence your decision whether to keep or sell your bike. Maybe in a few days everything will calm down and all will be good.

Default Daddy's Gonna Play!

The whole accident scenario (possibility) sucks. Yes, we assume certain dangers every time we ride but we also reap the benefits of living a more fuller life. While my wife (to my pleasant surprise) has learned to love riding with me, my daughter has also voice her opinion that it is very dangerous.

A long time ago my wife came to the realization that I was to head strong and determined to be able to be dictated to by her or anyone else. As a team, the wife and I support each other. This includes things that we approve of and disapprove of, of each other. On the other hand, my children have learned that -

You can't let that shake you up brother. In my 20+ years as a cop so far I've investigated maybe 20 accidents involving motorcycles but nearly a thousand involving cars. True you're more likely to be injured or killed on a motorcycle but you can't live life in fear.

Thanks guys; it's not the fear of dying or being involved in a wreck...it's the home front thang. The old "guilt trip and messin' with your head" ****...

Automobiles, Semi trucks, they are all dangerous. Remember, we on our motorcycles can avoid dander just as easy as getting ourselves into it. I have lost more friends and relatives to car wrecks than motorcycle accidents....

"Your Harley or your wife?" Might as well ask me "Freedom or prison?"

The guy involved in the accident died. Apparently, he was on a Spyder and rear-ended a Chevy pickup at full speed...from what I heard he didn't know the vehicle was stopped. As I mentioned earlier, it's on my regular route to work; there didn't appear to be any skid marks.
Wifey was pissed when she came home and realized I rode to meet a bunch of folks I work with for supper. She was crying, telling me that the rider died, etc., etc...
Man, it was a nice ride home this evening....
