Default Aside from SKIN, what holds up better?

Leather or Textile products? I used to wear leather, now I wear textile with removable armor. I figure that the day I go down sliding across blacktop and if ever able to ride again, the jacket and duds would have to be replaced. My issue is that I love leather and miss it (weep weep). If there is really no difference between the two, then I might as well go back to leather. Personal preference is what I'm expecting to hear, no prob with that! Only reason I'm holding on to my badass black textile jacket is that it's versatile for cold/hot weather and some salesman sold me on it. Well, I may have to have two (expensive) jackets.

I've had good experience with both, although textile is cheaper to replace if you end up "needing" it, I've found plus as you said, you can usually get more vents and what not with textile. Leather definitely is good too though.

Somewhere there is a test result showing at 65mph how many feet it took denim, textile, and leather to wear through. All I remember is leather was the best.

I've got leather for the durability. One day I hope that my grandkids (no I don't have any now) will have it around and just wonder where it's been, just like I have my grandfathers old helmet hanging in my shop.

I wear leather and sometime textile. I like both. Which one is better I don't know, but at least I have something on. For safety.

I'll 2nd that. Beats shorts and sandles on a crotch rocket, not to mention the full-face for good measure. LOL

With the exception of textile with ceramic coatings, leather in general holds up best.

Leather holds up best, as long as the stitching is strong enough.

My leather jacket is fully armored, with shoulder, back and elbow impact pads. I have several textile jackets, which are better for travelling with all the extra pockets, venting and water proofing.

I would bet that leather holds up better. One of the main reasons is that when I look at the suits they make for racing, they tend to mostly consist of leather. I have seen those crotch rocket racers on TV take a spill and go sliding down the track for what seems like half a football field in those suits and they get up and walk away...

Sucks when it's hot though. I still wear my ICON leather jacket except on the hottest of days when I am just putting around town and I don't get up to speed enough to make the vents effective.
