Aside from SKIN, what holds up better?

Leather or Textile products? I used to wear leather, now I wear textile with removable armor. I figure that the day I go down sliding across blacktop and if ever able to ride again, the jacket and duds would have to be replaced. My issue is that I love leather and miss it (weep weep). If there is really no difference between the two, then I might as well go back to leather. Personal preference is what I'm expecting to hear, no prob with that! Only reason I'm holding on to my badass black textile jacket is that it's versatile for cold/hot weather and some salesman sold me on it. Well, I may have to have two (expensive) jackets.

HeHe. Me too. I. know guys that have been "not riding" for half a million miles. That's how I hope to be.
For guy with Wilson jacket: get a real motorcycle jacket that can be cinched tight, so it won't ride up. Heal quick. Did you ever post a thread, about your crash?

You might not of had those broken bones with armor, that's way it's there, to protect your joints as well as cushion blows to the shoulder that cause things like broken collarbones.

just cut it off
A lot of cheap polyester gear has a similar abrasion resistance to jeans which is almost nothing. Cheap leather gear with cheap stitching can be just as bad. For textile gear to be abrasion resistant it needs to be made of haevy Cordura or something similar. Most abrasion resistant textile gear starts at $300. Leather still is the leader in abrasion resistance though and probably the only thing that will withstand a 60mph slide. Textile gear, especially 4 season touring gear, is a lot more versatile though wrt comfort in the heat, cold and rain.

I did, its in the general chat, probably a few pages back now. After this I fully intend to buying a proper jacket, I've looked at them before but balked at the price tag, lesson learned haha.
