Default chaps

Sorry i know youve all seen a thread like this before, but im wondering. Ive been looking for chaps, and went and tried some on last week just for sizing purposes. And from years of bodybuilding i have larger than average thighs that require a 4xl pair. The problem is my waist is alot smaller than what their designed for. Anybody have any ideas where i need to look? Or do i need to look into getting a pair of custom sized chaps?

Find a decent indy leather shop and have set made for you off the shelf isn't gonna work as your finding , nice thing about chaps is they are simple to custom fit . Went through the big thigh thing too in my lifting days , I feel you

I went through the same thing years ago.
I thought, who are they making these for? Stick legged beer gut guys?
I ended up going without instead of worrying about getting some tailor fit.

www.coloradochaps.com or something like that. Custom made, easy to get on and off, try them, you will thank me later.

great people to deal with as well. These are much better than traditional leather chaps.

Same situation here, call Fox Creek Leathers, they will talk you thru it and make your pair by your measurements. Best quality leather I have ever seen, lots of fans on the forum. Family owned, made in the USA, look 'em up. I love mine.

All the advice above is good. I went a little different route, but same result. I bought a too-big pair I liked, and took them to a tailor that did leather. I now have custom chaps for way less than I would have paid to have them made from scratch.

Could you just take them to a leather shop and have them put some new buckle holes in them.

I have the same thing except with height and my massive wedding tackle.

I am 6'4 and and not small of stature how big do your thighs have be to be too big for chaps. Back when I wore chaps most if not all were cut to size. you bought the width not the length.

Is it different now? new fangled chaps with cuffs?

BTW kidding about the wedding tackle.

I needed 44" waist size chaps to fit over my thighs. Since I wore 29" waist pants, trying to add belt holes wouldn't have done it.

I do need to get back to working out though. Waist is increasing with old age.
I wear a 30" waist now at 55 yrs old.
