Wear full leathers into the 19th hole your gonna get looked at funny.
Wear a polo shorts and spikes into a biker bar your gonna get looked at funny.
Ride a horse into church your gonna get looked at funny.
Ive never payed no attention to other people staring. Ive never given much of a **** what other people thought.

What makes someone a biker and can someone be called a biker and not be a 1%'r? I have always viewed "bikers" as people who ride a lot and follow the rules of good roadmanship, i.e. they help other riders in trouble, pass the time with other riders, consider their bike to be an integral part of their life rather than an accessory, help old ladies cross the road etc... but not necessarily members of a MC.
In the UK where I grew up this would be the definition of being a biker, so is there a different opinion in the USA?
Thoughts?

A 1% is a biker who is a member of a 1% club - I don't think there is any other definition for that one. So all 1% are bikers, but all bikers are not 1%ers and all motorcyclysts are not "bikers."

I only use the work "biker" to refer to the typical Harley type guys who wear leather jackets and ride mostly American cruisers and choppers and are involved in the "biker" subculture/lifestyle. the standard suburban guy in a mesh jacket is a "motorcyclist" and the gangsta-wannabe Vanilla Ice guys I call "sport bikers" (or worse).

A biker isn't about what you wear or what you ride, it's about who you are. Same thing with 1%er... only different.

Here is a quote from a 1% er that I know;
"How can it be 1% if half the dudes, clubs, bikers out there are wearing some 1% flash tab, tattoo or t-shirt?"
