Here's a bit more: http://www.agingrebel.com/5327 There's a little more in the link but I thought this was the most interesting.
Where

San Angelo, in the great West Texas void between Midland and San Antonio, is a broken city for all the same reasons that many American cities are now broken. The Chamber of Commerce describes San Angelo’s problems like this: “Over the past 10 years, San Angelo has seen a transition in its economy from manufacturing into more business and personal services.” By “personal services” the chamber means San Angelo is eager to pour you a drink. Urban redevelopment in downtown San Angelo means replacing “empty store fronts” with bars and pubs. “Business services” means “happy hour.”
Last year San Angelo had a population of 93,200. Three hundred eighteen residents were bartenders. The city had 47 establishments that sell beer, wine and distilled spirits by the glass. Together these bars generated approximately $1.6 million in income for San Angelo.
The Bad Guy

Alex Suarez is, by most objective standards, as good a citizen as Vasquez although his resume may be less inflated and more plain spoken. He hasn’t been accused of criminality or immorality. And, he has been trying for months to open a bar called the Throttle Down Saloon. It would be a biker bar. It wouldn’t be the first biker bar in town. It would be the first biker bar in San Angelo that permits patch holding patrons to wear their cuts.
Chief Vasquez does not approve of the idea — presumibly because police need enemies as frogs need flies. Last January, Vasquez asked the San Angelo City Council to help him just say no to Alex Suarez. It was the first time San Angelo has ever turned down a new bar. “This is the first time that I can remember the city and the City Council having an articulable reason to take a stance,” Vasquez, who seems incapable of speaking like an actual human being for even a moment, explained.
Vasquez objected because Suarez is affiliated with the “nationally known outlaw motorcycle gang Bandidos.” Affiliated mean Saurez holds a patch.
Suarez appealed the rejection with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. A commission agent noted that he had “Spoken with applicant who stated he would have club meetings of the ‘Bandidos’ at the location applied for.” Suarez, who was unavailable for comment, apparently tried to explain that he is not necessarily a criminal simply because some Bandidos have been convicted of crimes.
Vasquez, the Magna *** Laude cop, may have cheated in his logic class. “The whole basis for his (Suarez’) argument was just because his brothers in the club are involved in criminal activity, it doesn’t mean he will be,” Chief Vasquez told Matthew Waller of the San Angelo Standard-Times. “We don’t try to get in the way of businesses and new businesses, but we’re definitely going to try to get in the way of criminal activity.”
Waller elaborated that “the Bandidos have ties to Mexican drug trafficking organizations, has contact with incarcerated members and has military-trained members.” Waller also explained that the Bandidos MC is a “gang” and that “Gangs are responsible for an average of 48 percent of violent crime in most jurisdictions and up to 90 percent in several others.”
Last Tuesday a county judge named Mike Brown denied Suarez a liquor license again."

[quote=IBGary;9562091]1. Let The community make it's own decision. If you don't live there it's none of your business.
2. The Bandidos are recognized nationally as a criminal gang.

the 1% clubs bring problems for everyone that ride motorcycles.. they are organized criminals that happen to use motorcycles for their means of transportation. drugs, hookers, guns, etc. are not what you need to be spending your time defending. they do not care about you...they are in it for the money. let the police do their job and you can get involved in electing someone that will save this country from socialism and the "great society" of lyndon johnson and all of the other bleeding heart liberals.(i.e. democrats). the world may very well end on 12-21-12...are you part of the problem or the solution? who gives a rats *** if some outlaw motorcycle gang got a beer lilcense in san angelo, ts. wake up people./quote]

Thank you, officers, for protecting us from the menace of 1%ers. we citizens sure enough appreciate that.... BTW, what does socialism have to do with MC's?

AHHHH.. finally some truth leaks out.

The named man is not actually XXXXXXX but affiliated.

His would be the first and only bar in town permitting patches. IOW he wants to open a bar that allows colors. Including colors of the named club.

I grew up in the West Texas oil fields close to San Angelo. Will always respect and love the people in that region. They are hard working, God fearing, middle class, conservative, big hearted, fun lovin', rednecks. Some of the last desegregation of schools was in this part of west Texas. Some of the last strict Blue Laws probably still exist there. There are still "dry" counties in that region.

The city will fight this forever...

So the guy had approved all over his application, back ground check, bonding, business insurance etc etc. His app was an easy approval except for the guys he hangs out with. If this guy ever got the permit his business is doomed. The cops will pull over every car, truck or bike that leaves his parking lot for a roadside sobriety test.

I would not set foot in the place for that reason alone.

Although this really doesn't have anything to do with the bar, but Judge Mike Brown's (the one that denied the license) wife was indicted and found guilty of stealing almost $250,000 from the Childrens Advorsity Agency where she was director for 16 years.

Corruption much?

Mi3ninos, I 100% agree with you!

Great show, but I think you missed the post about the Feds arresting almost 40 members and associates of the Bandidos MC for running illegal drugs and guns. Distribution of Meth, Heroine and Cocaine is not okay in my book regardless of who is doing it.

Here is the press clip again to refresh your recollection.

Department of Justice Office of Public Affairs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Nearly 40 members and associates of the Bandido Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (BOMG) were arrested yesterday and today on various firearms and drug-related charges in three judicial districts as part of a coordinated law enforcement effort, announced the Department of Justice and the FBI.
Twenty-eight individuals were charged in the Northern District of Texas in six complaints unsealed today in Dallas with conspiracy to possess and to distribute heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine. One of the defendants was charged with possession of a machine gun. All of the defendants were arrested around the Dallas area, except for one individual, who was arrested in San Francisco today. The defendants will make initial appearances tomorrow in U.S. federal court.

In addition, eight individuals who are members or associates of the BOMG were charged in the District of Colorado with conspiracy, and knowingly possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and five kilograms or more of cocaine. Six of the individuals were arrested today in the Denver-area, while one defendant was already in state custody and one is at large. According to court documents filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, the BOMG is a self styled “outlaw” motorcycle organization comprised of more than 2,000 members and associates with more than 90 chapters in the United States, Canada, Europe and elsewhere.
