Goo Gone is BAD!
Being a fan of products that make clean up easier, I picked up some goo-gone (aka Goof Off) to get melted shoe off my new pipes... WORKS GREAT! But there is a HUGE warning, I can't stress this enough, keep that crap away from your wheels! On a whim, I decided to see what it does to an old motorcycle tire, and at first it just looked like it was armor-all... 10 minutes later, the spot I squirted had turned to tar.
Anyhow, the stuff dissolves anything rubber, so keep it away from your tires, hoses, and other rubber lines.
Probably a stupid warning, but hey...I'm bored.

Goo Gone and Goof Off are two totally different products. Why trash Goo Gone when you are using Goof Off?

I thought that goof off was the nasty one of the two? They are definitely different products though. I was not aware of the tire issue. Thanks for the warning. i have used it in that past to clean up the baked on stuff on the exhaust pipes and it does work well.

Two different products and IMO both work well when used per instructions for their intended purposes.
Apparently you used one of them on your pipes for the purpose of removing rubber and it worked well (I know goof-off will soften latex paint, one layer at a time). Why did you try it on your tire?

I had a drop of it fall on my plasti-dipped air cleaner apparently... I looked down, and the Plasti-Dip was GONE.

Actually, I'm using Goo Gone. I thought it was the same stuff as Goof Off, I'm guessing it's not if Goof Off comes in a metal container.
