Default Wear safety glasses....or else!

Just got home from the Opthomoligist. I woke up with my eye all bloodshot and felt like it was on fire this morning. They got me in this afternoon, filled out the paperwork, and within about 3 seconds of looking at my eye through the scope, she said I have a piece of steel in my eye. Numbed it, removed the sliver and handed me some drops to use. No big deal, right? Went to the desk to sign out and they said .... "That will be 480 dollars please." HOLY S**T!!!! It wasn't even after business hours.

So be fore warned. It gets very expensive getting hurt nowadays.

This has happened to my Dad and a past co worker.... I have had metal in my eyes multiple times and I went to the truck side mirror and took it out with either my finger or a napkin. I wear contacts so it's nothing for me to touch my eye. In my case I was cutting steel pipe and felt it hit so I went to the truck and found it, dug it out.

Obviously sometimes it's too small though. Both my Dad and past co worker said they never felt anything until the next morning. Co worker's Dr told him it was rusting, lol.

I was standing around at work shooting the crap with a foreman one day and one of his men walked up to him in a lot of pain covering his eye and saying he thought he had a piece of steel in it or something. It turned out to be a big chip of aluminum, easy to spot and on the white of his eye. The foreman took a paper towel and quickly batted it out of the guy's eye and told him to get back to work.

No workman's comp, no doctor, no cost, no problem.

Safety glasses are a must. I hate seeing people weed eating with nothing on, doesnt make any since. I watch these shows on tv when guys are doing fab work on cars or what ever and guess what, grinding and cutting with nothing on.

Think butterfly bandage under 3/4" or your a sissy .

I've gave myself stitches once had the right stuff , gashed my knee while way the hell out in the boonies on a hunting trip . The thing in the movies where they dump whiskey on the wound ? Coyotes couldn't have howled any louder than I did , still have a damn ugly scar too .

I agree with safety glasses. I use them at home the same as work. I value my body parts. Especially the ones that cant be replaced.
