i worked on bikes in bikeshops for 13 years..i have never once pulled a main fuse..blown and replaced a few but never pulled a good one
i do have a nice scar on my right pointer finger from pulling the starter gear gear in place on a shovelhead. the starter will still engage even when the ignition is turned off..shovels didn't have fuses anyway so that wouldn't of helped me much

The ONLY time you should pull the maxi-fuse is when you are checking the runout on the hydrovalve.

The hydrovalve is located perpendicular to the muffler bearings.

I wondered what that thing was called. Think you need a left handed screwdriver to get to it.

Mine doesn't have a hydrovalve, only a Findlay sprocket. Accessed with a with a Langstrom 7" wrench. And you don't have to pull the main fuse.

Have never pulled the main fuse nor will I ever. If it comes to that, pull the positive wire off the battery.
