Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Just got back 2 weekends ago from a trip to Pigeon Forge and the Smokey Mountains - awesome! So, pulled into a gas station near The Natural Bridge in Virginia with a buddy and ran into a goup of dressers and baggers (and a pretty cool Sportster). Chatted for a bit, and then got the "Can't say I like the dual headlights on your Bob," and the "Don't understand riding without a windshield, either, you must be a new rider," comments. I ride a Dyna Fat Bob, and yes, it is a 2011, but was the result of a traded Super Glide I've been riding for awhile. I could have explained how I'm not a fan of the huge consoles, windshields and plastics hanging all over the place, but, to each his own, and the dressers and baggers can be some awesome bikes, right? To each his own. So, kept my comments to myself and rode off.
Anyway, point is, rode 8 hours from DC with nothing more than my half helmet, sunglasses, jeans, boots and leather jacket with the wind blowing all around me, and it rocked! I gotta feel, for me, this is how to ride!

Sounds like a comment from the average Va rider. I'm surprised they were still out, usually after labor day the bike is put away. September-May are SUV riding days for most. Anyway, sounds the trip was great,it is beautiful around that area.

Glad you had a great ride down here.
You must have come right by me. Well if you were on the interstate anyway. I live just of I-81 in TN. 60 miles or so North of the Pigeon Forge exit. I ride a back rode way from here to there just cause I don't like the super slab.

Next time, I'm just sayin' ya know, ask about a local indy shop that does towing.
See what I'm sayin? Ya might need it, for one, but if they know one then ya've justed trumped 'em (get it? They have a reason to know one). Besides, even if ya don't need it now (& ya can take the razzin') ya got it on hand next time ya come thru there. But ya still laid down 3 aces to there 2 pair--beware of theft & their really good mechanic stealin' your cycle. Right? Quite right.

One advantage that the OP has from reading about his riding preference is that he hasn't done a lot of mods on the bike trying to get rid of that nasty wind buffeting that so many of us complain about. Great looking bike also.

I can't stand a shield, I've had them on other bikes, but the ride is just not the same. It's the experience of being in the open, out of the cage, not behind a piece of plastic because you don't like the wind or the bugs. If you don't like the wind or the bugs that's fine, but maybe some of us like the full experience. Either way you either like the bike or you don't, but don't hammer on someone because it's not exactly what you ride. I'm trying to be a bit different, I'm glad your bike doesn't look or run like mine. I don't care what kind of mpg yours gets, that's not why I bought mine, if I can't afford the gas then I guess I need to park it or get rid of it, but that's my choice!
