The things we are grateful for at the end of the season, are what we sometimes ignore in Summer. IMO.
Ride safe friends.

Shovels like cooler weather , thinks it'a combination of things that causes that trait but get out on a cold crisp 40's or 30's day and they get perky as hell for some reason .

Idiots? You mean guys with gear.
I'm doing construction bids today, running around on the bike in the 40's and lovin' every minnit of it - don't even need the thermo suit yet. I just DARE temps to get into the teens after I put in the handlebar heaters!

I easily would have braved the 28* if it was going to be warmer than 45 in the afternoon. Freezing my *** off both two and from work tips the scales.

Yup! That's me. I'll ride in about any temp in the morning if it'll be warmer than 45-50 on the way home. I don't seem to have a problem suiting up in the morning but can't get myself up for doing it on the way home.

Yes, I have been out in those temps and the shovel loved it. Me not as much.
Still, even a little bit of riding is very enjoyable for me.

38 was the high today when I picked the CVO up from the dealer. New cruise control switch solved the problem. Warranty covered that.

With shorter days of sun light and a 1PM start, I still got home with 151 miles on a great ride. Pure blue skies and sunshine. The seven day forecast is for this to continue through next Tuesday but I will be going to Minniapolis Sat. and Sun to see the grand baby and a early thanksgiving. That still leaves me 4 great days of riding.

I just don't see why those that enjoy their rides just can't get the minimal gear to ride in the 30's up. It just takes a good pair of gloves, wool socks, jacket over a t-shirts and sweat shirt and a half mask under a full face helmet.

I would take more for the 20's and below of course. But above freezing is simply not a great challenge.

Burning about $15 of gas each day has given me a thin trim wallet though.

Doods; I got FOUR WORDS for ya that takes care of below 20's:
FIRST GEAR THERMAL SUIT!
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...iece-Suit.aspx
I ride to the gym in the 30's with nothing under it but my shorts and tank top...only thing gets cold is the fingers and forehead. For $170, you cannot freekin' BEAT it! No need for electrics and it's designed by riders. Is a rainsuit too, but I haven't tried a full downpour yet....hate washing and waxing.

It might be that they don't enjoy their rides with all that gear on.

Yesterday I drug out the winter gloves. They're bulky and they take more effort to grip the bars. I had on a t-shirt, a jacket liner and a leather jacket, with jeans and leather pants over them. Looking over my shoulder to check traffic reminded me how cumbersome all the gear was. I'd still rather ride the bike in the cold and damp than drive the car, but I can understand why others wouldn't bother.

Hell, it took me about 5 minutes to get enough clothes off before I could pet the dogs, and three very impatient German Shepherds competing to be the first dog to get attention from the human can be very persistently in the way. But even though that extra time makes the trip on the bike slower than the car it's still worth it to me.
