My internet connection went on the fritz so I could not post until today.

Got in rides Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a total 298 miles. Mid 50's and windy each day. I saw about a half dozen bikes each ride.

However, I officially called it quits today. Cancelled the insurance with Markel and will start on all the services and projects.

That gave me a total of 16,800 miles for the year. Will shoot for 20K next year.

I had planned to leave the insurance on one, but when I talked to Markel they wanted more $ as it was only one bike so no multiple bike discount. I said just cancel. Will look for an other company next March/April.

Like I said, it was a nice day. Usually going in to work it was in the single digit negatives, one day was -10, that was the coldest moring.

After I posted that comment, I did the ride I said, then that night we got our first snowstorm of the year. Next morning, as expected, cars were wiped out all over the place, smashed into bridges, each other, off the road whatever. So for the time being riding is done here. Have to wait for an above zero heat wave to clear the roads, then I'll be riding again.

This past Saturday we did 100+ mi. and it was 22 degrees when we left. Didn't see too many bikes out, wallet or welfare. This cold weather sucks.

Was 42 when I left for work this morning ... all bundled up and electric. Actually passed 4 other bikes and 1 was passed by another. Was foggy too. Maybe it the daylight savings time ending and the sun in the morning. More people riding today than usual.

Back on two wheels again. There are still the odd patch of ice on the roads but nothing that can't be easily avoided. It was an even zero degrees leaving the house this moring and woohoo I can see thanks to daylight savings time.

xyhz1959, no road salt yet. But yeah they will apply it heavily during snow falls over the winter. Only they don't use salt. Salt is NaCl sodium chloride, they use CaCl, calcium chloride, it has a lower freezing point, generates heat to melt the snow when in solution and is more environmentaly friendly. Drawback, it's about 10x more corrosive on vehicles. So you have to make sure you wash that crap off your scoot.

we had a foot of snow a week ago and it's like a spring day today, who knows what's going on with the weather anymore.
