Looks like all the wallet bikers are off the roads now!

Frost on the seat makes many choose the cage...Scrape the frost off the seat and ride. It's not that bad after the first 2-miles...When you stop your glasses/face shield may fog up..Once you get moving again the fog will clear off!!!

I've noticed that. Out for a ride this morning, temp about 55. Bike seems to have more power I guess due to increased air density. Riding is so enjoyable this time of year.

More bikes on the road today in northwestern Illinois than I have seen in a long time during the week.
Since Aug 5 th I put 2K on the Vrod, 1K on the Dyna SG, 1K on the XR and I am finishing up 1K on the FXSTC by Sunday. Monday I will start to put the 1K on the Road Glide. I already had over 9K this year on the Ultra.
When the Road Glide gets its 1K, I will start over with each one. I guess I will need more than my 15K this year so no one will think that I am a "wallet biker" whatever the F that is.

Based on the HD Forum rules for how not to be a "wallet biker" you'll need to ride your bike at least 1000 miles from your house, leave your wallet at home and put at least 100K per year on the bike. No exceptions!

XKnight I got that covered. Went to Sturgis this year by going to Canada through International Falls and did 965 miles in one leg. Most folks ride to where they are going. I go somewhere else first!
Of course that was after I went to Seattle and down 1 to San Francisco then Death Valley thru the south west.
That ride was over 6K and the Canada to Sturgis was over 3K. But darn I disqualified myself as I took my wallet. It seems when my sons ride with me on these adventure rides they expect old dad to pay.
Even at 70+ with older sons somehow they always cost money.

I saw good photos of a Ural in the snow a while back. Looked stable enough. Ice is a whole 'nuther matter. I vote for the fairing lowers- got hypothermic in Colorado in the summer once. It was raining pretty hard across Monarch and South Park, and anyone riding in mountain country knows two rules: layer up and stay dry.

How much snow do you get there? ....my chart says your average high in December and January is 60F...with those temps guys here would ride all year round......do you get a lot of road salt to melt the ice?? Ever get 30 consecutive days where it doesn't get above 32F?? Come on up to the Great Lakes and get some real biking in.....

No its awesome to live here. It snows about once every three years. Even Sean snow on the beach once. The coldest ive ever seen it is 4deg. Winters are an average or 30deg. About 24 inches of rain a year. Its great living and working on the coast. You should come visit sometime.
