Coming back from my monthly Costco run on business 80 this afternoon, I hear a Harley coming up behind my old pickup. Look in the mirror and it's a red-fairinged Dyna moving fast in the number-one lane. Hmmm... sez I, who would that be?

Didn't take long to find out as the rider swings into the lane next to me and passes at a good clip. It's one of the 81 crew with a California bottom rocker, and looking good as he rides by. In denim shorts, a white helmet, white tee-shirt, knee-high white athletic socks and running shoes. This is the absolute truth and I say it with all respect.

Now this is great, at least to me. The few dudes down at Sac Harley this morning trying to look tough to impress the rest of us, you think they would ever show up dressed like that? Noooo, they would do as much black and leather and have doo-dads on their chaps, the works, maybe conchos on their cellphone holders.

Then here comes a guy riding hard on a good looking Dyna dressed as he wanted and I doubt if the local fishbait on their cookie-cutter Streetglides will have any comment other than, I'm getting a white helmet and some dungaree shorts first thing pay day.

Ya gotta love cool when you see it and when that gentleman flashed by me on the freeway that was very, very cool....
Thats what I've been tellin ya all along ...
be yourself, dress what makes you comfortable and screw the h-d fashion.
I'm sure I look retarded in some of the crap I wear riding ....

I've only had two interactions with a hells angel member, but both were negative.

However, I still take every person as an individual though, and always do my best to not judge people based on anything but who they are as an individual and how they act.

Imagine this:

A man who stands for something

Whose word is his bond.

If he says he will do something, it is as good as a signature on a contract.

Has a bond with others like him, are always there for them, as they are always there for him.

Thick or thin...they stick together, and live by a code.

Now...imagine that in the 21st century.

To BE a full patch holding member in a REAL M/C requres this. Most can't FULLY live up to it. Those that can, forge groups and fall under the 1%'er banner.

You have to PROVE you are one of them....PROVE you can be relied on, like you will rely on them.

For those that have the mettle to do so, the coveted full patch is awarded.

Earning it is a bitch. KEEPING it is just as hard. You can't live up...you will lose it.

SO....that is one, of the many reasons why I support all 1%'er M/C's.

(and support fellow combat veterans)

81 is group of men with HONOR.

So finally after 30 years of riding in tennis shoes due to a bad accident in 1984 that left my foot/ankle unable to wear a boot it's now cool?

I caught a lot of flak for those shoes over the years, but I am now "in".

I think I'll stick with long pants though. My legs are too white.
