Default Why don’t you have time to ride

Just read a post where someone said they don’t have time to ride. There was another last night that said she rode 5 miles last year. I have a hard time relating to that. I commute on bike, run to store, etc... Both riders have kids, so I guess it would be hard to ride and chauffer kids around. I have an empty nest, now. What are reasons you don't ride, in riding season?
Here are mine:

1. Have to service auto or truck
2. Need to pick up something with truck.
3. Gonna rain all day
4. Bike not working
5. Famiily trip

One word...kids..., but I still find the time for my favorite stress relieving hobby. Ride on!

Default "Time to Ride"

"Time to Ride"

IMO:
to me riding to work isn't riding..
running to the store isn't riding..

Riding to me means hitting the open road for the day.
Spending the day on the bike with no real destination and not having to worry about being late to get some where. There aren't enough of these days, this is what I mean by not enough time to ride.

Nobody has enough of those days.

Of course I would love to not work. Thanks to Uncle Sam, that's not an option. Riding to and from work for me is 40 minutes of fun and escape from drudgery. I probably like it more than a cruise where I could be doing something else relaxing like boating. Your post is kinda what I am saying. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Ron750, that is a beautiful bike. I have an '03 FXST but it isn't in that great silver-and-black combo.

Riding is riding, period. When I start the Fat Boy to go to work, life gets whole lot better. And the 100-mile breakfast ride on Saturday is also great. A few weeks ago, I put 450 miles on the scoot riding up to my hometown of Mendocino for a band reunion. Wonderful!

Last year I put 900 miles on the truck -- total. This year I'm set to do about 500. So much for cages...

there are NO EXCUSES if you really want to ride.
when my kids were 3 and 4, I sold my Heritage and bought and old Beemer and put a side car on it. They were the most popular kids in the 'hood and day care. We rode few thousand miles all over the state, went to bike nights and camping. I rode more with my kids in those few years than solo or with my ex.
we had an awesome relationship, had a blast and have a life-time of memories... kids are 19 and 20 now and both ride.
