Riding to me means hitting the open road for the day.
Spending the day on the bike with no real destination and not having to worry about being late to get some where. There aren't enough of these days, this is what I mean by not enough time to ride.
Same here , the kids make it tough to be able to ride sometimes , that is why I ended up with a sidecar bike, more riding less truck , but to say I had time to ride means a few hours with no destination or timetable.

Ken, if you would ride alone more, you would find the inner peace that has been escaping you your whole life.

I got this poster from an HDF member who was nice enough to send it to me.
Thanks slhanks4.

Riding to work is not riding....pffffft!

I ride to work I sure as hell don't push it... I take different routes and back roads, sometimes I get 50 miles in before I start my day... and 100+ before I get home again, good therapy. Sure I like to take a day and ride the mountains but doesn't happen every week... It is good to have a day where you can follow your front wheel with no schedule and no time limit...

I ride whenever I can. To work, to the store, to see friends, to go places.. I just don't ride to the city.

Reasons I don't:
I pack my lunch most days (saves money)
Bad weather, riding in the rain is no fun.
It's dark out. I don't really care to ride at night, but I have before many times and probably will a whole bunch more. For example if I'm at home and about to go out and it's dark, I'll drive.
Too cold, as I don't really enjoy wearing 5 layers of clothes to go for a short trip, just to take it all off. If I'm going out in the cold (have before many times, in below freezing weather) I'm going out for at least half a day to make it worth my time.

If the temps will ever drop below 100*, I will start riding again. Right now, it's too damn hot to go outside for very long. I can tell I'm getting older, cuz the heat didn't bother me a few years ago.

Don't take Alkay personally. He has a heart of gold, he is just a smartazz . Get some saddlebags for your lunch. I avoid night riding, too, in deer country. Anyone with a brain does. When I ride at night in deer country, I actually observe the speed limit so I don't outride my lights. Ride safe.
