Riding to me means hitting the open road for the day.
Spending the day on the bike with no real destination and not having to worry about being late to get some where. There aren't enough of these days, this is what I mean by not enough time to ride.
IMO:
Limiting your riding to sunny sunday weekend warrior pirate excursions is not riding..

when my kids were 3 and 4, I sold my Heritage and bought and old Beemer and put a side car on it. They were the most popular kids in the 'hood and day care. We rode few thousand miles all over the state, went to bike nights and camping. I rode more with my kids in those few years than solo or with my ex.
we had an awesome relationship, had a blast and have a life-time of memories... kids are 19 and 20 now and both ride.
U da man, Alkay. But I'd like to see you ride in the frozen tundra in January. Or tow a 3,000 lb boat with your cycle. That would be awesome!

Wait... there's a riding season?

I typically don't ride to work in the summertime. I drive my truck when it's needed - hauling, towing, etc. I'm on 2 wheels whenever possible.

I typically dont ride alone. Not very far anyway. If I don't have someone to ride with I ususally won't bother. Besides, I have other toys besides the bike. It's hard to make time for everything.

Side cars are a blast in the snow, but the salt from the road really did a number on the motor. I'll never do that again. Oh, and I'm a sissy when it comes to cold. Hate it with a passion.

I ride to work everyday too. To me, using a bike as your main transportation rain or shine is "real riding." When it starts snowing I drive my 4X4. When it stops - back on the bike. Long scenic rides are nice too, but that's just icing on the cake IMO.
