Just like ViseGrip shifter or clutch/brake/throttle cable puller, tin foil fuses and matchbook cover for correct spark plug gap. Business card sets gap for points, etc...
Visegrip clutch worked better than the stock clutch on my 80 sporty.

Maybe you could market a new line of gear.
I can see the adverts now "More abrasion resistant than Kevlar, better than CE armor, and not only that, it's environment friendly"

Had to make color coordinated lacing with electrical wire and a belt from some old fuel line. It's my first time, give me a break!

Had a buddy with bone stock 76 suerglide he bought new and rode into the ground , snapped the clutch cable out in the boonies on night . So we pulled the housing off the cable and laced the thing through the holes on the old bolt on highway pegs , turned the shifter arm up and clamped my visegrips on top so he had a foot clutch and suicide shifter . I bought the guy a cable 4 months later just to get my grips back .

Love hearing stories like this. As much as I like my breakerless ignition and EFI, there ARE times when points and carbs are handy.

This thread, and pretty much every thread like it are ridiculous. The idea that if you didn't ride in the 60's or 70's, then you can't be a "biker" is just plain retarded. There are those of us, that were either not even born, or barely out of diapers then. The simple idea that one person, or group of people, gets to define who a biker is or isn't is also just plain retarded. Stop spending so much god damn time worrying about who wears what, when and how. Can't figure out how it hurts anyone else if a doctor or a lawyer, wants to throw his suit down on the weekends, and go clear his head a little. Probably the better docs and lawyers do. Whatever, sick of these stupid threads.
