I'm saying that starting on 500 and mastering those skills before moving on bigger toys, makes for a better rider. Did you learn arithmetic first or jumped right into algebra? If starting on something smaller than "big boy bike" makes me a poser, I'm OK with it.
I learned on a 175 little old CZ dirt bike... then raced 250. Rode a couple of little old Sporties before my first 74. Still think Sportster is one the better bikes harley builds.
Learned to roadrace and got my license on a little 500Ninja before getting rides on "big boy bikes" and I'll do the same with boats.
I have nothing but respect for most MCs and just because I don't wear a cut, doesn't mean that I don't know how to ride 75+ on BQE next to someone 4 feet of a bike in front of me.
I never said anything about excluding dentists from your rides. Thats your business... but would you ride next to him?
sounds good!

I'm with Twizty on this one too.
If you gonna go down in shower of sparks, gas and 20/50, please do it behind me. Not in my path of travel.

I'm just really pick about who I ride with.
One is my racing buddy, who is MUCH faster and better rider than me.
One is MSF instructor with 40something years on everything from a Knuckle to modern Kaw.
Only newbie I ride with is my kid, so I get to teach him all my bad habits like splitting lanes, running side-by-side at 80mph, etc...
Do as I say, not as I do...

Yup... taught my son and my son-in-law... they both rode lighter bikes but took to the HD's well. SIL I still have to keep an eye on, he likes to lag way back which I keep tellin him it lets cagers between us... I had them both take the safety course but that doesn't make you an instant rider like some think...
