North Carolina issues tags with dollar signs??? Been a LEO for a long time and never seen one.

The new ones are not even stamped but screen printed, to save money. Doesn't even look real, really.
One day I'll remember to take a pic outside so the flash doesn't ruin the pic.

Yes, a lot of different symbols really. You can go to the NC DOT page and check the personalized plate section and see all that are available.
The new ones are not even stamped but screen printed, to save money. Doesn't even look real, really.

true story, but i forget in what state:
some genius thought it'd be a riot to have "NO TAG" as his license plate. (which is pretty funny, honestly.) then he started getting speeding/parking tickets in the mail. LOTS of them. apparently whenever a car doesnt have a license plate, a cop still has to write something in the blank on the citation, so it is frequently "NO TAG." the dmv cross-checks "NO TAG" with addresses, and voila, the jokester now has thousands of dollars in unpaid speeding and parking tickets.
