Helmet and Boots/How do you ride?
Do you ride with a non-DOT helmet/with no protection for your head, and heavy duty boots to protect your feet and ankles? Just an observation with a question/No judgements, just ride.

DOT half helmet, Redwing leather boots and I double knot the laces.
Boots are something that are used at every stop. Sturdy soles with a good grip, and ankle protection/support are useful on every ride.
Helmets on the other hand, rarely get used. Probably 99% of helmets never do anything more than keep the sun off your head. They're important when they are needed, but on a day to day basis, they're useless. They're insurance.
That said, I wear my DOT helmet because it fits well, it's comfortable, and it *might* make a difference.

Half Helmet or Modular and over the ankle hiking boots
I don't like wearing flip flops even when driving my truck due to the chance of something possibly getting flipped when it should have flopped on the pedals.

Helmet/ Boots/ Gloves/ Leather Jacket/ and Vest when it's cooler/ Jeans -
Sunglasses/ face cover (mask or scarf)/
What's good for me may not be good for you . .
Ride in what you're comfortable in . . if you want to wear flip flops/ shorts/ no gloves or glasses - I won't judge . .
watch out for the gravel and glass and concrete when (umm, if . .) you go down.
it can happen in an instant. .
You know the 'saying'
"just two kinds of riders, those that have gone down; and, those that will go down"
just My Opinion . .

Well......
When it's chilly, I wear boots.
When it's not, I don't.
I always wear a DOT, 1/2 helmet. We have a helmet law here in MD but I still wear it in states that don't require it.

No separate wardrobe here.
Vans or DrMartens 99% of the time and 3/4 old Bell when I KNOW ITS NOT GONNA RAIN
Most other times and when traveling its full face ARAI, waterproof jacket and boots. I always have the rain gear in the bags on the Twinkie. No reason to stop and shiver under an overpass.
Shovelhead is reserved for "light duty" and doesn't even have front fender. Its well deserved semi-retirement and doesn't get farther than couple hundred miles from its sunny home.
