Never understood the whole fingerless glove thing. If i wear gloves it's for protection, especially my fingers. If your hands are so tender that you need gloves to ride then you might be a poser. I'm guessing it's just a fashion statement, otherwise why not wear full finger gloves?

So, if I understand this correctly, it has the same function as the string on a tampon?

I believe gloves to have 4 purposes: Keep warm, keep from burning them on billet grips, help keep the skin on 'em during an accident, AND...to keep vibration down, that I'm told can cause carpel tunnel. Good gloves have a gel or some other cushioning in the palm.

So fingerless gloves help with vibration...I suppose some think they look badass.

I suppose one could say what one chooses to wear or not wear doesn't define the rider.

How one RIDES defines the rider.

Some can, some can't. It's pretty obvious after a few miles.

Depending on your persuasion, I'm a half-azzed Harley rider full of contradictions:

* I wear dirt bike gloves in warm weather.

* I wear HD boots.

* I wear white riding jerseys in warm weather, and white T's in the summer. (Why do the BiB routine? i.e. Bake in Black?)

* I wear a textile HD jacket when the weather is cooler. (WHAT? No leather???)

* I don't do chaps.

* I wear a doo rag. (Peach fuzz syndrome. If'n I don't wear something on the head: Burn city.)

So... as you can see... I'm a mixed breed of sorts.

Fortunately, I have the cognitive ability needed in order to determine if what I wear feels comfortable and whether its attire that I feel gets the job done. The above is comfortable for me and gets the job done.

Thus, no need for endless hand-wringing over what I do, or do not, wear.

Softail04: Better keep puttin' the miles under the rubber... I'm right behind you at 42 years of riding.
