Well anybody that owns a motorcycle is a real biker, it's just what type and to what extent I guess. Some people make good money but they don't look like it. RUB is an outdated term in my opinion. Nobody now a days have a "real biker lifestyle" except for ones in 1%er biker gangs that live and breathe it.
A guy I used to work with must be a big RUB but you'd never know it if you just met him. He wore normal clothes, only 4 wheel vehicle he had is an old 80s Toyota truck. But he lived in a nice *** house probably worth over $300,000 easy, has 7 Harleys (at least when I worked with him) which he paid all or most with cash straight up and makes roughly $3,000 a month after taxes (not including the rental houses he rents out all around town, so probably more like $5,000+ per month). I don't know if he has a college degree but he's the top sales person at a building materials store (I delivered the stuff to construction job sites and existing houses).

Brother and variations such as bro, are a highly regarding term in the biker community and not taken lightly. I suspect this is why he called you a RUB, more than what you were riding or wearing. Just my messed up opinion.
