Friend crashed several years ago on four lane highway in the rain. Lost a section of his *** as he slid a long way on it in assless chaps. Also had knee damage. The main strike points on the lower body are the knees, hips and seat. Chaps only protect the knees and don't have padding to prevent fractures. IMHO they are purely decorative, motorcycle over pants do a better job of keeping you comfortable and are way more protective. They are just as easy and fast as chaps to put on next to your bike too.

As my screen name implies......It will take more than a tree to take off part of my ***.
Although my OL seems to take chunks of it on a regular basis without much trouble.

Moderators, I am ashamed of you!. On a Sunday, on a media that can be accessed by children you let Harley50 tell a story about a big hunk of wood getting a piece of ***. We are lucky that this thread was quickly and righteously steered toward biker fashion.

The last accident I had, was on my way to a rally and I totaled my Dyna out in a curve, to avoid hitting a truck. I slid down a blacktop highway for a fair distance before I came to a stop. The asphalt scraped holes in my chaps and jacket, but I was able to get up and ride to the rally without having to go to the hospital and have them use a scrub brush on me.So I know for a fact, they can save skin.
BTW, I still have those chaps and you can even see marks on my chaps where I had coins in my pocket and somehow they left a perfect outline on my chaps.
