Default Can't sell my Sporty?

Hello all. I'm having an issue. I've been trying to sell my 2004 Sportster for a couple months now, but I only have it on Craigs List as well as putting word out at the local shop. While I have it listed at a steal, no one is biting. The only interest I've had are from people who basically want me to give them the bike. I was wondering if it would be worth it to post the bastard on cycle trader. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'd just like to get an idea before I pay to advertise. Thanks!

Tough all over to sell 'em. They're all pretty inexpensive......I wouldn't bother spending the money. Try to list it in other areas on Craigslist that wouldn't be TOOOO far a drive.

I sold my '96 Sporty on Craigslist. I had to drop the price to compete with other sellers. I originally asked for $6500, ended up taking $5000. Dealers around here wouldn't even consider taking it as part of a trade-in.

BTW, watch out for Craigslist scams. I got an email from someone saying she was going to buy it for her son in Wash. She was going to buy it sight unseen. That raised a red flag and I checked google for something like it. It happens a lot.
Here's a cut/paste of the email...

Good to have your reply. I am Amy Stone from Clarkston, WA. and would have loved to come and inspect this at your place myself, but I am a marine engineer and presently off-shore. I am buying this for my son in Washington as a surprise birthday gift and pls just make sure it is in condition described. I will appreciate more pictures if available and will be sending your money asap. My shipper will be available to pick this up as soon as payment is made. Do you have paypal account? because, I have a paypal account that I can easily send money through because, its good for business payments. Get back to me with your paypal email address and name in order for me to have your money sent on time. Confirm sale to me and remove the add from posting.
regards

Amy Stone has tried this with a motor home, condo, several cars, other items.

Default Wait to spring

Wait to spring or price it for a fire sale. Put it on e-bay but you need to be real smart about it. Most people will need to be local to check it out since its not like a rare thing. Price it low wholesale since its great to get what a dealer gets but you need to be lucky to do that. Got mine on e-bay but two deals fell through before I go this one. Sold one one e-bay also. Both my sell and buy were after bids closed and they were no sell. Just got the connections. Best bet is spring in your local paper. Need 4-5 lines of facts that do not repeat and then a sheet to read to calls. Pictures ready to email. Have a set price and a bottom dollar written down(only for you to see) and lower both weekly. Do not dicker over phone--waste of time and lowers your moral. Do your home work.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably try the local paper. And yeah, I'm really wary about craigslist scams. Thanks everyone.

Try posting it here in Motorcycles for Sale section. You need to have 25 posts (which you do) and be a member for 30 days (which you may or may not be).
