I started this so I'll now tell you I think it's subliminal. Give each of ten bike-owners a camera, tell each to go out and take one picture of bike, nine (my guess) will take that one picture of the right side of bike. Why? Because when we look at pics of bikes, the majority will be of the right side. We don't think about it, we just do it. After I spent 4/5 hours winterizing my bike (2007 Deluxe) the lady of the house here declared me deeply disturbed, so I don't put any of this forth as grounded in tested psychological practices/studies/etc. She's reading this over my shoulder and now says that "deeply disturbed" might not go far enough. (Page 11 Photo Gallery - Beautiful 2007 Road King (yellow) 8 pics -none of left side.) HD Forums emblem? Yup, that too.

You must only look at modern day Harleys then. HD for some time did have it reversed and Indian today is left side intake.

I must be in the minority. I simply love the look of the primary side of a Harley. They have a look unlike any other!

...it's a joke. That picture is a negative. It's a great shot, but the give aways are the brake & clutch cables...

Having said that, I rode a 70's 250 cc AJS/Norton dirt bike where not only was the shifter on the right, but the pattern was 1 UP, 3 DOWN. Which means that if you're coming in too fast on really rough terrain, (especially standing up) the natural tendency would be to apply some rear brake, which in this case, would UPSHIFT the bike.............................

It's simple. Because that's the side of the bike the guy was standing on when he took the picture!!
