I have learned my lesson. A short rant.
I'm planning a trip to Deals Gap nexr weekend. Supposed to have 11 guys plus myself I figured I'd rent a place there that sleep 12. and it would run everyone about 20.00 ea.
I figured since I have a great place to party I'd have a meet and greet for them.
My Son in law fixxed a pot of Chili about 4 gallons and 7 of them didn't show after oh yea we'll be there. If they don't show next week end too f'n bad. If I tell someone I'm there I'll be there.I will To be continued

Typical......
I hope you had the foresight to collect the $20 from everyone before the trip.
I planned out a week long BRP trip this past June. We started with 15 folks, on 12 bikes. I made all the arrangements. As time got closer, one by one, the group got smaller.... By the time we did the trip, we were down to 5.
We had a great time, and those who bailed, kicked themself in the butt.

I've done a lot of group outings. That's pretty much par for the course.
The answer is what Skootch said - when guys say "I'm in" you respond "awesome dude, give me your $20 now and I'll pay the rent up front." If the guy doesn't show, he either forfeits his deposit, or else he gets some other guy to go in his place and gets his deposit from the other guy.
I got stuck for exactly one rental house payment when 50% of this bunch of guys bailed. Never again. So long as you establish the rules up front and everyone knows "Pay first, if you bail, you lose", there should be no arguments. Keeps things civil.

Man, I absolutely understand where your coming from. I literally had to join up with some guys in a Goldwing club here in VA, just to get people to ride with. Over and over my wife and myself make plans with my "Harley" buddies to go riding, and one by one they systematically bail. It looks like rain, it might rain, its too hot, its too cold, I'm tired, the wife wants me home....its freaking ridiculous!!!! I will say this, the HOG guys do ride, but my days of paying dues for the privilege of riding with my buddies is long past. Just saying.....don't tell people your going riding, them make excuses.

One of lifes great lessons----No money you don't go,---paid your money and now your wife says you can't go, no refunds. Been there done that. Seems like I was the one that had to make all the arrangments for stuff like that so I learned early on. Don't understand why guys gotta be like that, when I say I'm gonna be there I will be there.
