bike vs dog

Pepper spray a couple of times and the dog will probably stop. Right now it is a game and he is winning because every time he goes after you, you go away to your yard. Take the reward out of it and he'll stop. Definitely don't kick at the dog, depending on the breed it may not let go if it grabs your leg!

Earlier this summer I had a large mixed breed collie type dog run out in from of me. W was able to slow to about 35-40 when I hit it. I expected to go down, but instead the front tire hid the front sholder of the dog. It spun the dog in several circles and it was able to run off. Lucky for me I had on my brown pants. We they were brown on the way home anyway.

Yep, had a pit bull mix run out from behind a palm tree so I hit my brakes so I wouldn't hit him....He hit the back of my front tire. Knocked me down. The dogs owner played dumb, so I called the cops. Her attitude changed and said she pay for the damages....
The bitch moved before I could get the estimate....

Since its a neighbors dog, make friends with it. Stoop down to approach the dog (on foot) so that you are less threatening. Give it treats, pet it, play with it. Be in charge, don't let it control you.
On the bike, slow down if a dog is running towards you, then speed up when it gets close. It will throw the dog's timing off.

I came out of a short fast ninety degree curve one evening just before dark, and hit a lab square in its side. It sent me and the bike flying high. when I did come back to Terra fir ma I looked back and the dog was walking off at the same pace it walk out into the street. I know that dog had to have died from internal injuries.

First try to make friends with it, as has already been suggested. If that fails, a squirt gun filled with ammonia does the trick. Stop the bike when you enter the driveway. When the dog keeps coming, first shoot at the ground in front of the dog, that usually stops them in their tracks. If he keeps on coming, you have no choice, shoot him in the nose.
