Bummer! I was just getting ready to order some billet grips to change out with my next service. Hmm...now I don't know what to do...I just don't like the "look" of rubber. I also don't like wearing gloves. If I can avoid it, I go without. Anyway...looks like stock grips will have to stay for now...I don't want to sacrifice a lot of comfort just for a "looks" thing.

Helmet and jeans is pretty much the only "safety" gear I wear. I ride in tennis shoes as well.

they're exactly what you'd expect them to be.

they feel like holding on to a piece of metal.

they vibrate a little more than rubber and tend to heat up in the sun.

harley and some other companies make grips that keep the billet look but are ringed with rubber to keep the comfort up.

LOL...I feel like you're downplaying it now!

Anyway, the pair I was looking at has no rubber:

They are Arlen Ness Battistini billet grips....guess I just like the design and layout.

You got me thinking though...I don't know whether to go through with it now or not...maybe I'll keep looking.

I replaced my stock grips with these, steal metal but with rubber bands around them

Because of the ILL vibes sent through my hands after a 100 miles or better ride, my hands would fall asleep, these are not much better, but at least if needed I can grip the rubber o-rings and settle down any vibrations.

Who makes those? I wouldn't mind finding a similar style out there...

Those are the Arlin Ness grips, There are similar to the ones I got (but could not find a picture of them) the ones I have are as Toast said, the aftermarket Harley grips.
BTW, if you just wanna try some to see if you like them, I still have my old stock grips (the chrome end came fell off of one of them is why I replaced them) I could send them to you and that way you can try before you buy.

These are actually the ones I went with

these are the stock grips
