Help me understand 1% MC
#53
I live in IL I see Outlaws all the time. I give them a wave and for the most part they give the wave back. And the only time to fear them is if you screw with them. But can't most of say the same thing. Just ride treat them like fellow riders, and show some common respect and you'll be fine.

There's a couple of 1%'er clubs in my area, but I've never had an issue with them and they've never bothered me or my family/friends.
I also have never gone up to one of them with something to "prove".
What I do find interesting, is that I've never found somebody admit that they're in a 1% MC when they aren't wearing their colors/around a group of other folks in their club. I guess it's that whole "strength in numbers" thing.
As I get older, I'm starting to think a lot of what I've heard about 1%'ers is hollywood based hype with only a smidge of truth sprinkled in.
Just my $.02

That supposedly came from an AMA statement following Hollister? either way, it became part of biker culture and I for one, hate seeing the recent biker craze diminish old tradition. I'm just another harmless old guy who went back to riding after completing a career. When I was a young man, the bikers were in a world of their own and most of us riding "citizens" stayed clear. Today, it seems that everyone wants to live off their tradition without the commitment. I'm not by any means in favor of law breaking but have noticed the proliferation of "colors" for everything including breast cancer supporters ((jeeez) without observing the original AMA rules (rockers separated for the real deal). Maybe I just hate to see tradition dissolve in any form as I get older but there's a lot of colors and special patch meanings out there that don't mean much at all now.

I love all these tough guy responses when these threads come up. It makes me laugh.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again....there's nothing like seeing all the Mr.Tough weekend warrior bikers faces' at the local bar when a 1% club comes rolling in. Their attitude changes very quickly. It's fine entertainment, honestly.
