Backwards sport bike trike .... geez, what will they think of next.

The only way I would ride one of those is if there were missle launchers mounted on it.

Snowmobile on wheels?

Call me a snob but I don't wave to them. In fact this wave thing has gotten out of hand anyway. Back in the 70's there was not so many bikes out there so I liked the wave thing. Now it's just a pain in the ***.

I demo'd one at Bike Week for ***** and giggles while I was killing time waiting to demo something I actually wanted to ride. They are weird - like riding a waverunner down the road. They are not a motorcycle.

Waving is not really a requirement, even amounst motorcyclists. These Spyder riders aren't motorcyclists anyway, they're riders of their own kind of open air machine. Maybe they don't even wave to each other. Maybe they haven't worked out their acknowledgement rules yet, you know...like a secret handshake, expect for the road.

I've seen a few of them around town, even at bike nights. They're interresting, that's for sure, and I expect they are fun to "drive", but so are convertible sport cars. To me riding means two wheels.

Guess what was the first promotion offered by dealers ? Buy one, get your lesson for free!

Seriously, a lot of old folks here ride those. With their flipped up modular helmets and their ugly grins. I'm going to stop trying to wave at them before I get my *** handed to me by a cane wielding thug coming out of the old folk's home.
What about a Harley trike? Same number of wheels. Do you need a motorcycle license for that? What criteria are they using if not the number of wheels?

So, is this still considered a motorcycle?

A trike requires a motorcycle license. I know absurd. They do exceptions on a per vehicule basis, not on any kind of logical criteria.

I had a couple of these hooligans chasing me around OH last week. My buddy, who owns a softail classic, is half owner of a Can-Am dealership here. Last weeks ride was actually a charity ride for his shop. It's a different ride for sure.
