Wow, this post took a 13 month hiatus and as one poster predicted it would be resucitated periodically to become a 20+ page post. It's looking good! BTW, I wear 2 helmets simultaneously...gots to protect me heads.

There is not a DOT CERTIFIED helmet out there that will look as smalll and thin walled as a Novelty beanie. I tried Daytona, Skid Lid etc, and ended up with A Vega Nakid. 1" of foam is 1" of foam. Thats what's needed to make it a DOT so you need to look for the one that fits your head best. For me, the Vega fit lowest on my fat oval head. Lower for me looks smaller.

 

I swore up and down that I would never purchase a motorcycle brand helmet, but I have been amazingly happy with the Harley-Davidson hybrid ultra-light. Yeah know, it looks like a poser helmet but it's amazingly comfortable and you don't look like a character out of Super Mario Bros.

Couldn't care less about "looking" cool or absurd. Have a wife built like a pornstar and attitude to match and she digs my DOT helmet. I'll await the "envious" smart *** comments. Its all good, I understand.
