Reasons I wear them:
cold...even in florida.
bugs, lots of em in Fl. My pants stay clean
ridin' 80-90 on the flattop to get somewhere faster. I'd like to keep SOME of my skin if I go down.

Same reasons for wearing a vest.

Actually, I thought a vest was more for hanging patches on and keeping your shirts from parachuting.

Well I have a pair of chaps... I wore them about 4 or 5 times this winter. They do the job they were intended to do. My leather jacket does the same. Actually I hate having to wear either of them, but guess I'm just getting old and turning into a ***** because I just can't take the cold as well as I use to.

I've never been one to worry about what other people say, after all, they are the one with the hang-up... not me!

um, go to the innercity of your nearest big city and ask where you'll find folks that like wearing these chaps friend, 9 out 10 times you'll get directed to the innercities known homosexual areas. the reason folks laugh at assless chaps is because they've been long associated with this group and i'd say its the only reason people laugh at em. i wear armoured pants buell guys wear cuz they saved me from losing my backside and leftleg last year (if i had chaps i'd have lost my backside) anything you wear is a personal choice but somethings do have their associations friend, if you wear chaps then complete the look with leather vest, fingerless gloves and leather hat like this guy don't be surprised if you get a snicker from strangers though

How do you keep your slacks from melting against your pipes? I'm just wondering?

After living in the Rocky Mtns for umpteen years, I'm amazed at some of the responses on here.

However, unless it's 40 F, and you're going on a long ride, it's not so much gay than funny. Every year you see guys all leathered up riding around Sturgis, SD in August. WTF? (and don't give me that protection bs, buy and wear some armored sport bike pants then if you're that worried about it)

1st things 1st, Top, Semper Fi!

Now, functional, hell yeah the wife looks great in em whether or not we're out riding. Damn sure gets me functioning.

Wear em when it's cold but cold is relative to where ya live. Seen women at Sturgis wearing em and dayum.....
