Cowboys wore them John "the Duke" wore them. for the same reeason we wear them to protect our legs.
Are you trying to tie this to the south park episode? LOL

If you use them to look cool, they are not cool.
If you wear them because they are functional, they are cool.
I bought a pair at a yard sale for $5 while traveling. Only used them once when it was necessary to ride in the cold & they paid for themselves. My wife wears them more often & she is not ghey.

Is spelling gay as "ghey" the new trend meant not to offend anyone? If so, I only like the brass hardware on my chaps and other leathers ... the chrome looks "ghey" to me.

I think they help cushion the blow from rocks and other debris not to mention the fact that in a spill leather wins over denim!

what's gay is (saw this saturday) an idiot with chaps takes his shirt off and does burnouts in front of a harley dealer. I don't wish wrecking on anyone normally, but I woulda liked to see that moron with a road rash!

Any ride outside the city and I wear mine regardless of the temp. If it is a warm day then they can come off when I get to where I am going. To each their own.
