When your at those intersections with light sensors and they don't sense you on your bike. I usually end up going when clear and I know the light wont change. Anyone ever get caught? How to you prove it?

I don't know about Washington, but in Pennsylvania, the vehicle code says that
"If a traffic-control signal is…not functioning properly, vehicular traffic facing a…Red…signal shall stop in the same manner as at a stop sign…"

I find it interesting that the "PA Bicycle Driver’s Manual" says, “Going through the red isn’t against the law, because the light is defective. If you ever have a crash or get a traffic ticket because a traffic light won’t turn green, it’s the fault of whoever installed the detector.”

As far as proving it, I'd think that whoever says you didn't wait long enough would be the one who would have to prove it.

I keep a copy, chapter and verse, in my saddlebag, just in case.

i wait reasonable amount of time, and then proceed through with due caution. <-- at least that is how i would explain my actions.

It's fairly common so I don't think there would be a problem if you are polite and explain the situation.

I went through a red light on a left turn and the officer told me to report the intersection to the city. He didn't give me a ticket but told me to be careful several times.

I let the lights cycle through once, and if it doesn't give me a green, I'm gone...

I rock the bike left to right; if'n the light still does not cycle, I take off anyway.

Been lucky so far, cage has always come up and tripped it for me just when I was thinkin' about takin' off. But if it cycled all the way through once and no green for me and no cage, I'd go.

I have had cagers behind me and the light still wont sense. Then I go through the light and when the cage behind me gets to the front, it changes. So does that me the light is broken because it wont sense a bike, but will a car?
